Introducing Oscar Zulu – The Navy Series Vol. 1
The Navy series is a departure from Oscar’s typical style of covering a large variety of sounds in a pack, having a very distinct sonic character throughout. The series started as a challenge to create a collection of 10 compositions zeroing in on the somber, introspective side of hip hop and rnb, with a focus on using mostly live sounds, including electric and acoustic guitars, vocals, pianos, and electric pianos. Additionally, Oscar uses a chopping technique throughout the pack to really blur the line between new composition and flipped sample. The ideas in this series are more simple and tame than some of Oscar’s other work, but with that comes the benefit of being extremely easy to use for producers and artists.
